The infamous Beckett Mansion, Victorian LA landmark Film Estate

Los Angeles
Sept 11 – 13 (closed)

ESA and AESWON present this imposing Colonial Revival Mansion.

The Beckett Residence, Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #117, built in 1910 for Dr. Wesley Beckett.

This once-grand, six-bedroom estate was being used as a ‘standing set’ for movies; often filling the role of a haunted mansion. Many celebrities have graced its Gothic halls, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Lana Del Rey, Ewan McGregor, Christina Aguilera, Tori Kelly, Chainsmokers, Natalie La Rose, Dillon Francis, Queen and Slim and so many more…

Much of the furniture, decorative objects and clothing have been filmed over and over to enhance a decorator’s Victorian vibe. You now have the chance to buy a piece of Hollywood history and bring some of its vintage glamor home with you.

As the old saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words” and a “thousand words” cannot convey the enormous amount of content this grand old house has.

A brief list:

There is an eclectic array of artwork, lithographs, antique oil paintings, studio artwork, posters, Asian – Chinese and Japanese art, a huge Chinese painting on silk of Quing Emperors entourage, a enormous early 19thcentury Italian oil painting of the Holy Family, vintage tapestries, large vases, lots of clothing, old studio costumes, vintage furs, vintage hand bags, shoes, hats, bedding, ornate metal figural statues – lamps, taxidermy, silver plated serving pieces, quaint knick – knacks, frames, crystal lamps, beer steins, glassware, vintage kitchen items, vintage electric stove, 50’s Jadeite green chrome kitchen table, wine cooler, newer washer and dryer, etc.

There is a dungeon style basement jammed packed full of old wood, furniture parts, tools, props, flats, scenic backdrops, T stands and architectural fragments.

The attic is stuffed with overflowing boxes, with racks of clothing, art, mannequins, dolls, bolts of fabric, sewing notions, piles of chairs and lamps and just about everything a fashion shoot would need!

Furniture:

The parlor with overstuffed sofas salon sets, glass topped Modern coffee table, dinning table with chairs, round oak “ball and claw” table, 3 pitchfork back country chairs, Gothic throne chair, ornate gold leafed Louis 16th revival arm chairs, huge floor to ceiling boudoir mirror, Asian “chinoiserie” furniture pieces, Bombay commode dresser, plant stands, and a Art Deco wooden serving cart.

To complete a Louisiana look there is a church prayer kneeler pew, an alter box for voodoo priestess Marie Laveau! A curious metal crocodile, white rattan salon set sofa, colorful Casbah end tables, old birdcages, crystal candelabra, oriental, Aubusson and white Flokati rugs.

For musical entertainment we have an antique Steinway upright piano, antique white “golden age” baby grand piano and an antique gingerbread pump organ.

Upstairs are a King 4 poster canopy bed, vintage French twin sleigh beds, French revival dresser, highboy and vanity set, Venetian glass mirrors, Edwardian dressers, antique night tables, Etc.

In the yard there is a Vintage Russell Woodard Patio Set, lounges, fountains, pots, horse drawn cart, columns, bird bath, bicycles, fire pits and heaters.

Vehicles : Vintage 1950’s trailer, 1990 GMC step Van Truck.
